Regulations and info
- 9-round Swiss system, from February 23, 2008 (first round, 5pm)
to March 1, 2008 (last round, 10am).
- Venue: Malaga city, ‘Nuevo Salón de Actos” (new
main hall) of the ‘Diputación Provincial’ (Malaga
Province Government). 48, Los Guindos Ave, 29004 Malaga, (very close
to the sea shore).
- Schedule: First round on Feb 23 (5pm); second: Feb 24 (10am); third:
Feb 24 (5pm); fourth to eighth: Feb 25, 26, 27, 28 and 29 (5pm);
ninth (last round) on March 1 (10am).
- Time control: 90 minutes for the whole game, plus 30 seconds of
increment after each move.
- Criteria for tie break: Bucholz (without worse result) and FIDE
Progressive Score.
- Valid for FIDE norms, FIDE Elo rating and FEDA (Spanish) and FADA
(Andalusia) Elo ratings.
- Byes: All players (except invitees by organization) can request
ONE bye day, until fifth round. The bye will account as a half point.
- Prizes: 12000 € (total), with the following distribution.
(Elo means FIDE Elo). Given prizes are not including Spanish taxes
(15-25% discount, according Spanish Tax regulations)
- General (all prizes in Euro): 1: 1650, 2: 1350, 3: 1000, 4: 875,
5: 650, 6: 520, 7: 450, 8: 400, 9: 350, 10: 290, 11-15: 250, 16-20:

- Best performance for players under Elo 2300: 1: 175, 2: 160, 3:
135.
- Elo 2201-2300: 1: 165, 2: 150, 3: 135.
- Elo 2101-2200: 1: 125, 2: 100.
- Elo 1900-2100: 1: 100, 2: 75.
- Under 1900: 1: 75, 2: 50.
- Junior players (born after Jan 1, 1988): 1: 115, 2: 160, 3: 130.
- Cadet players (born after Jan 1, 1992): 1: 100, 2: 75, 3: 60.
- Local players (with Malaga Chess License in 2007/08 year): 1: 175,
2: 150, 3:125.
- Supervisor for the tournament: Ismael Nieto (International Arbiter).
- Registration: before February 15. Maximum: 200 players, FIFO rules
with preference for players with advance payment.
- Entry fees: General entry fee is 35€; GM, IM, WGM, WIM and
players with FIDE Elo rating over 2200 do not pay entry fee; Players
with Malaga license (Malaga Chess Federation): 30€.
- Payment: in Euro. Advance payment (preferred by organization): Bank
wire money transfer to Cajamar Bank, Tomas Heredia street, account
number 3058-0751-00-2720139249, subject: your name and the word ‘OPEN’.
- Special attractive conditions for Elo FIDE 2201-2300 players: no
entry fee, good special prices and better accommodation fees.
- Accommodation: A Malaga or Torremolinos hotel (in the sea coast,
10 Km from Malaga) is recommended.
- Local transportation (venue): City bus 16 (Santa Paula bus
stop).
